Seneca e la bellezza della natura

As for all Stoics, for Seneca God is the source of all beauty. There is no distinction between esthetical and ethical beauty, since both are the reflection of the universal Logos. Seneca is personally extremely sensitive to the beauty of nature, even in its primitive and unspoiled state. Through the contemplation and the investigation of natural beauty man recognizes his own affinity with the reason that rules the cosmos. Human art does imitate nature, but in this way it follows in God’s footsteps and emulates his activity as a creator of beauty.
