This work aims to the study of Na-montmorillonite gel with high water content (20 g of clay in 100 g of water). The X-ray patterns, at absolute scale, allow to separate the aqueous phase from the hydrated solid phase. It is shown that the water molecules at neighbouring of the silicate layers are crystallographically bonded to the layer with an ordering in a (3a⃗, b⃗) cell.
