Performance of the black bean aphid, Aphis fabae Scopoli, on two faba bean cultivars, namely Vicia faba-major and 79S4, was evaluated under field and greenhouse conditions. Results of field trial indicated that aphids on V. faba-major plants built up an enormous population density at the early stage of plant growth causing death of host plants and as a result aphid population collapsed, whereas aphid abundance on 79S4 amplified continuously over days 56 following artificial infestation, but at lower rate than the another cultivar and thereafter started to drop gradually until the end of experiment.
