Considering non-residential single-storey old steel buildings, the paper describes a comparison between different structural models and analysis methods for earthquake-induced economic loss assessment. First, the paper describes a simplified approach, which uses finiteelement models of 2D frames extracted from the actual 3D building structure in conjunction with a displacement-based loss assessment (DBLA) procedure.
