This chapter deals with the importance of addressing economic violence as a fundamental form of political violence. Drawing on linkages between social policy approaches, human rights and development, Jurasz and Szablewska argue that achieving gender equality requires responding to unequal power relations at the institutional and societal levels, and thus greater attention needs to be paid to understanding and combatting economic violence against women.
