In order to accommodate an increasing rate, doubled every ten years, of current consumption in this country, two hydroelectric power plants were constructed in the Zemm River. This type of power plant has the advantage of being able to produce energy at the time of consumption so as to be to handle peak energy production; while the normal power load requirement is covered by nuclear, petroleum and gas, and river power plants. These two plants have 517.500 kW, with a total annual yield of 648 GWh, or 778 GWh with pumping equipment.
