The architects of this public college won the first prize in a competition for its design. It constitutes a part of the restructuration of the entire university of Reading with a tendency to group its buildings more rationally, as previously they were rather spread out. It consists of a longitudinal block of four and five storeys with a spacious porch in front. On the ground floor and on the first floor are the administration, a pond and the printing section; on the second and third are the reading rooms and classrooms and on the fourth are the conference halls and the sitting rooms.
