This article focuses on Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which prohibits discrimination against any qualified individual with a disability in hiring, compensation, promotion, termination, and job opportunities. The article is intended to be a follow up to Professor Cheryl Hein’s article entitled “The Americans with Disabilities Act: Accent on Employment Decisions” that appeared in the Summer 1992 edition of the Central Business Review. The article begins with an overview of the ADA and offers a brief ten-year review of the ADA, as well as a discussion of two recent Supreme Court decisions and reactions to those decisions.
