Situated at the southeastern edge of the Mediterranean Sea, it is bordered by Lebanon to the north, Syria to the northeast, Jordan on the east, the Palestinian territories (West Bank and Gaza Strip) on the east and southwest, and Egypt and the Red Sea to the south.
