Dexter-based company Erda, is a 40 year old company that makes artisan handbags by hand. The current owners, Sue Norman and Scott Mayer, bought it in 2013 and have made some changes in materials used (hand-polished South American cowhide instead of deerskin) and a hydraulic clicker that increases the layers of fabric that can be cut at one time to help increase scale, but have kept the core crew and process basically the same.
