Unum Life Insurance Company of America and Tom\u27s of Maine were the only Maine companies to make a recent top 100 list compiled by Working Mother magazine. Unum\u27s Child Development Center was among the first work-site child-care facilities in New England when it was constructed in 1979. It is one of the reasons the company is known as a family-friendly employer. Both Tom\u27s and Unum offer child care subsidies, flexible scheduling, and referral networks for child and elder care.
