Maine Medical Center yesterday agreed with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People that the hospital should be more aggressive in its recruitment of blacks. The hospital and the NAACP met after Moses Sebunya, vice president of the Portland chapter of NAACP, expressed concern about Maine Medical\u27s minority hiring record. Around 2.7 percent of Maine Medical\u27s employees are minorities, as compared to 1.9 percent of Cumberland County\u27s residents, but most of the hospital\u27s minority employees are not black.
