Officials with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the National Marine Fisheries Service say they will recommend preliminary approval of the request by the conservation group Restore: The North Woods to include the Atlantic salmon on the Endangered Species List. The government has until January 1 to determine if the petition has merit, and then has nine months to approve or disapprove the listing. Details
