The Maine Telecommunications Group on Monday announced an agreement under which it will purchase GTE\u27s phone operations in Maine, which currently consist of 48 phone exchanges serving 47,000 customers. The group is comprised of the Lincolnville Telephone Co. of Lincolnville; Utilities Inc. of Standish, a holding company which operates the Standish Telephone Co. and China Telephone Co.; the Oxford County Telephone Co. of Buckfield; and two out-of-state operations
