Maine College of Art, Westbrook College, St. Joseph\u27s College, the University of Southern Maine, Southern Maine Technical College and the University of New England have formed the Greater Portland Alliance of Colleges and Universities. Initially, the alliance, to be formally announced this morning, will allow students at one college to cross-register for courses at another. Officials expect the areas of cooperation to be expanded as problems are worked out. The agreement goes into effect in January.
