this just in piece about the Center for Maine Contemporary Art (CMCA) in Rockport, which will celebrate its 50th anniversary on July 20 with a special dinner. In preparation, two weeks ago the center took down a 15-foot-long seagull, carved by Bernard Angles, that had long heralded the building as Maine Coast Artist, the organization\u27s original name, and put up a new sign with the CMCA\u27s name and logo. The seagull had been showing signs of stress and weathering, but CM CA hopes to preserve, restore, and display the sign in the future. In the meantime, for the summer at least, the sign has been moved around to the side of the building, awaiting a new perch
