this just in piece on the Oct. 31 sentencing of Nancy Galland and Richard Stander by E. Allen Hunter, a district court judge, on charges of criminal trespass. On March 20, Stander, Galland and 10 others were arrested for occupying the Bangor office of Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) in an anti-war protest. The 10 others pleaded no contest and were sentenced in May to 48 hours in jail (suspended) and either 30 hours of community service or a $200 donation to charity. At the sentencing of Galland and Stander however, Judge Hunter said he was convinced the two had violated the law in pursuit of a principle, and sentenced the two to 20 hours of community service, a much lighter sentence.
