As Maine’s population ages and the state faces a labor shortage, more and more seniors are returning to work, and many of those are starting their own businesses, with those aged 55 to 64 showing a higher rate of entrepreneurial activity than those aged 20 to 34. The article looks briefly at two new business enterprises which were started by older entrepreneurs, Portland Pudgy and Freedom Fin. It also discusses the University of Maine Center on Aging and its launching of an initiative to develop new products that could potentially improve the quality of life for older people
