Loring Air Force Base in Limestone has been designated as the site of a Defense Finance and Accounting Facility, one of 25 nationwide. The center could bring as many as 750 jobs and $48 million annually, although many of the employees will be transferred in from outside. Limestone High School was recently designated as a math and science magnet school, and Loring was selected as a federal Job Corps training center. U.S. Senator George Mitchell was in Limestone recently checking on local interest in Loring becoming the site of a federal prison
