Cover Story piece on the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts in Sunshine. Founded in 1951, Haystack is celebrating its 50th anniversary this summer with a number of ceremonies, publications and events, chief among them, Haystack: Pivotal Transformations, an exhibition of works by 39 Haystack student and faculty alumni, which is being presented at The Center for Maine Contemporary Art in Rockport through Aug. 29. With a history of the school, which was founded by Francis and Priscilla Merritt
