News piece on the outrage of Ron Lovaglio, the commissioner of the Maine Department of Consevation, over American Rivers\u27 listing of the Allagash Wilderness Waterway as one of the nation\u27s Most Endangered Rivers for 2002. Lovaglio accused the Washington advocacy organization of using inaccurate information in the announcement of the listing and called the whole effort disingenuous. American Rivers\u27 claims the Allagash was put on alert status because of willful neglect by DOC and a legislative proposal to remove the Allagash\u27s federal Wild and Scenic River designation.
