The Maine Land Use Regulation Commission last week rejected an appeal of the staff-issued permit for Kenetech Windpower\u27s proposal to build a 23-mile utility line to carry electricity from the Boundary Mountains to a power substation in Eustis. LURC did add conditions to the permit, including a ban on the clearing of trees until the final development permit is issued. The group Friends of the Boundary Mountains challenged the permit, contending it shouldn\u27t have been approved independently of approval of the final construction plan. The LURC meeting also featured a landmark deeryard management plant by Bowater\u27s Great Northern Paper division. Details
