The Maine Land Use Regulation Commission denied an application from the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife to locate a public boat launch on Spencer Lake. LURC Chairman Steve Wight and IF&W Commissioner Ray Owen recently to discuss cooperative planning. There are only 340 boat launch sites for Maine\u27s 5,700 lakes and ponds, 2,800 Great Ponds, 30,000 miles of streams and rivers and 3,000 miles of coastline. The recent controversy over the proposed launch on Spencer Lake resulted in the formation of People Allied in Defense of Lakes, or PADL, which opposes development on Class 1-A lakes. Details
