Maine\u27s Advisory Committee on Radioactive Waste last week voted against a federal Department of Energy plan to store high-level radioactive waste at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery. Rep. William Zeliff, R-New Hampshire, has been quoted as saying that refusing to allow storing the waste at the shipyard would better the chances that the base would be closed
