The Economic Development Incentives Commission keeps tabs on money spent on tax incentive financing (TIFs), the Business Equipment Tax Reimbursement (BETR) program, the Jobs and Investment Tax Credit, Research Expense Tax Credit, and job training programs such as the Governor\u27s Training Initiative and the Maine Quality Centers. With a list of the ten largest recipients of subsidies, the amount they received, and the number of jobs gained or lost that year. The cost per job for these recipients was about $150,000; the recommended federal maximum for subsidies is $35,000 per job
