News & Issues piece on a legislative bill sponsored by Sen. John Martin, D-Eagle Lake, that would have removed the Allagash Wilderness Waterway from oversight by the Land Use Regulation Commission. Martin and George Smith of the Sportsman\u27s Alliance of Maine, now back a formal study of the measure. The Legislature\u27s Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry Committee unanimously endorsed the study, and all sides seem satisfied with the compromise and the prospect of a full review of management issues
