News piece on this year\u27s crop of wild Maine blueberries, which dropped to 30 cents a pound, its lowest point in eight years. Last year\u27s crop brought 40 cents a pound. Processors are blaming the low price on a poor quality Maine crop and the flooding of the American market with inexpensive Canadian berries. With about 40 million pounds left over from last year, and as much as 120 million pounds produced this year, processors scurried to unload old berries through the U.S. Department of Agriculture\u27s (USDA) commodities program. A total of 13.8 million pounds of frozen berries from the 2000 crop were sold to the USDA this year. Jasper Wyman got an average of 82 cents a pound through the USDA program
