Maine Audubon, the Natural Resources Council of Maine and the Forest Ecology Network held two meetings over the past week to see if they could agree on a common strategy for the upcoming legislative session. Maine Audubon and NRCM supported the failed Compact for Maine\u27s Forests, while FEN, led by Jonathan Carter, actively campaigned against the referendum. The Maine Legislature\u27s Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry Committee will meet next week to consider the 11 forestry bills held over from the last legislative session
