News & Issues piece on Atlantic Salmon of Maine, an aquaculture company that wants to lease two areas of Blue Hill Bay: a 26-acre site near Long Island and a 15-acre site off Mount Desert Island. The plan has generated a contentious debate focused primarily on the Long Island site, which would be the largest in the state, with a capacity of 10 million pounds annually. The Friends of Blue Hill Bay, a group formed to oppose the leases, say the bay does not have sufficient circulation to flush wastes and have expressed concern about the use of pesticides and the project\u27s impact on other wildlife in the area. The matter is now before the Army Corps of Engineers and Department of Marine Resources
