Maine currently has four licensed methadone clinics: private, for-profit operations in Westbrook, South Portland and Winslow, and a nonprofit program at Acadia Hospital in Bangor. Narcotics addicts in Washington County currently travel to southern Maine for treatment, with some staying in Portland homeless shelters
