The Land Use Regulation Commission has ruled that Cherryfield will be allowed to withdraw water from the Machias, Narraguagus and Pleasant rivers only when flows exceed 30 cubic feet per second (cfs) in August and September, and 36 cfs the rest of the year. Cherryfield\u27s director of operations, Ragnar Kamp, said there would be serious economic consequences if his company is not able to irrigate its blueberry barrens sufficiently. The company employs more than 200 workers year-round and another 1,500 during the blueberry harvesting season, and has an annual payroll of $17 million.
