Dick Bradbury of the Maine Forest Service says the brown-tail moth, previously a threat only to residents of Casco Bay islands, are fairly widespread from Cape Elizabeth to Brunswick. Americorps volunteers and island residents clipped over-wintering webs on several islands, with around 4,700 webs clipped on Cliff Island alone. Island residents are trying to decide whether to allow aerial spraying, with Dimilin the substance of choice. Dimilin is a broad-spectrum insecticide that kills any anthropod that ingests it, and could be a threat to lobsters. Details
