Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Maine last week withdrew from the bidding on providing managed care to around 100,000 Medicaid recipients in Maine, leaving only proposals from NYLCare of Maine and AssureCare of Scarborough. The Maine Department of Human Services had hoped to offer at least three managed care options in each of the state\u27s designated regions, but a DHS official said the process can go forward with two options. DHS Commissioner Kevin Concannon attributed the reduced bidder interest on the relative newness of managed care in the state.
