Charles Lyons, president of the University of Maine at Fort Kent, has agreed to an alternative building site for a new environmental studies center. Environmentalists and state legislators objected to the original site plan because the proposal received no public hearing and was within the one-mile buffer zone of the Allagash Wilderness Waterway. Officials of the Natural Resources Council of Maine and the Allagash Alliance were preparing to take the issue to university system trustees later this month
