But low-income working parents might get a break, thanks to expanded federal Medicaid guidelines and some of Maine\u27s tobacco settlement money. Recent changes in the expanded Medicaid program called Cub Care raises income guidelines to 150 percent of the poverty level. And the Maine Center for Economic Policy has drafted a proposal, sponsored last session as LD 1477 by Senate Majority Leader Chellie Pingree, D-Vinalhaven, which would allocate about $4 million of the tobacco settlement money to fund the expanded Medicaid program for working parents
