What\u27s in a Picture? piece on the dirigible Shenandoah at its mooring mast aboard the U.S.S. Patoka off Bar Harbor, in July 1925. It was the first rigid airship built in America and had just made a swift, 11.5-hour trip from New Jersey to Mount Desert Island. The 17th annual Governor\u27s Conference, hosted by Maine governor Ralph Owen Brewster, had just finished up in Poland Spring, and the governors spent a night in Bar Harbor.
