Veteran boating editor-writer Dave Gatchell Sr., recommends that the best way to seek out a water retreat is to consult a DeLorme\u27s Maine Atlas, which pinpoints watercraft put-in sites on seventy detailed maps depicting the state in small segments. Gatchell also recommends Public Boat Access, which lists some 304 state-sponsored and assisted boat launching sites, the majority of them on inland waters
