Along the Waterfront piece reporting the Apprenticeshop in Rockport two years ago launched a replica of the turn-of-the-century Sonder-class racing boat, Bibelot, designed by Nathaniel Herreshoff, the Wizard of Bristol. Even before the Bibelot II was launched and shipped to her owner, a member of the Bavarian Yacht Club, another member of the club contracted with the Artisans School, the successor to the Rockport Apprenticeshop, to build another Sonder-class replica to beat the Herreshoff design. The school decided to go with a fresh design of its own, drafted by President Steve Barnes, an MIT graduate in naval architecture.
