Dollars & Sense piece that attempts to assess the economic impact of Open Lighthouse Day, which will be held this year on September 15. Last year\u27s event drew at least 18,000 people to 60 Maine lighthouses. Although no marketing surveys have been done for this event, one tourist, Jim Borden of Pennsylvania spent four nights in Maine visiting lighthouses on a recent trip and spent around $2,000 to $3,000.
