Capitol Update piece reporting that Maine roads are likely to become more congested if the state does not increase funding for road construction in congested areas, according to a new study. The study predicts a 65 percent increase in traffic delays in the nation\u27s urban areas over the next 25 years, and a 50 percent increase in miles of congested roads. David Hartgen, professor of transportation studies at the University of North Carolina, said Maine could face a more serious impact from road congestion because the state\u27s highways play such a large role in how goods are shipped. David Cole, commissioner of the state Department of Transportation, agreed with the report\u27s finding that it will be difficult to meet funding needs
