Today there are about 35 candlepin alleys in Maine, down from about 60 then. Matt Laffley, who recently purchased the Bowling Bowl in Brunswick, hopes to revive the business through renovations and better marketing. Owen Martin, owner of Bowl-A-Rama in Sanford, invested $40,000 on a sound system and lighting that makes the pins, balls and carpeting glow in the dark for Rock n\u27 Glo nights.
