Maine ranks fifth in the nation for the percentage of industrial designers working here, many practicing from their homes and studios. For the past several years, Haystack Mountain School of Crafts has organized a symposium called Creating in Maine, that draws together manufacturers and designers. With profiles of designers Lauren Rudy of Arundel (Lauren Rudy Designs), Patric Santerre of Portland (ARCADIA designworks LLC), Sunny Stutzman of Dover-Foxcroft (Sunny Skies Design), and Judy Paolini of Portland (TPDA). Santerre has submitted a proposal to the governor\u27s office to offer industrial design through the community college system, but so far there\u27s been no action
