On June 19, Coastal Enterprises, Inc., in Wiscasset announced the establishment of Maine\u27s first venture capital investment fund designed for socially responsible businesses. CEI is Maine\u27s leading nonprofit community-based economic development corporation, and has counseled 8,000 Maine businesses, many of them women- or refugee-owned. They plan to invest $3.2 million of privately raised funds in at least 11 Maine companies to create 400 jobs.
