An article on John K. P. Kip Stone, 42, of Freeport, who started his Westbrook company, Artforms, in 1998, in the hope of one day being able to afford an Open 50 racing sailboat. In the process, he became attached to his company, which prints custom designs on T-shirts at the Dana Warp Mill complex. He projects sales of $6 million next year. He also opened a retail clothing store in 1999, Cool As A Moose-Freeport. This fall, he launched his Australian-built boat, Artforms, which he paid for in installments as he got the money. He hopes to race in the Transat, a single-handed sail from Plymouth, England, to Boston next May
