A potential future shortage of lawyers in rural Maine has attracted the attention of the University of Maine School of Law and of William Robitzek, president of the Maine Bar Association. The law school has begun to take a proactive approach to the situation, inviting judges and attorneys from all over the state to meet with students and taking students on field trips to rural destination. Robitzek has tried to match new graduates with older attorneys, and the Maine bar offers incentives for graduates to stay in Maine. These opportunities could be a boon for Maine law school graduates who face high unemployment rates.
