Capitol Update piece on the new business court, which Maine Supreme Judicial Court Chief Justice Leigh Saufley hopes will begin hearing cases by spring. Gov. John Baldacci has nominated candidates to fill four new judge positions created last year by the Legislature. The additional judges will allow Maine to create the specialized court for business and consumer cases, while reducing the backlog in existing courts. Saufley said the biggest caseload problems are in York and Cumberland counties, where there were about 1,000 criminal cases pending in each Superior Court at one point last year
