When Chris McCormick became CEO of L.L. Bean five years ago, he stepped in to lead a reorganization to broaden Bean\u27s focus outside its traditional catalog sales. Since McCormick\u27s appointment, Internet sales have grown to outpace catalog sales, and the company has opened five retail stores outside of Maine. Earlier this year L. L. Bean announced plans to build more than 20 stores over the next four years.
