City piece on Portland City Councilor Nick Mavodones who says he\u27s been courted by councilors from both sides, liberal and conservative, to take the job of mayor. Mavodones is the front-runner for the largely ceremonial job. Councilors will hold a caucus later in May to fill the post. Outgoing Mayor Tom Kane, a member of the Council\u27s liberal faction, said Mavodones\u27 egalitarian approach would be a unifying force.
