Perfect Pitch Inc., the company managing the State Theatre in Portland, filed for bankruptcy January 31. State of the Arts Inc. received notification on February 9 that it had been approved by the Internal Revenue Service to operate as a nonprofit organization. Congress Property Management, which owns the building housing the State, filed a motion in bankruptcy court on February 9 seeking to force Perfect Pitch to either assume responsibility for running the theater and paying its debts or allow someone else to operate the State Theatre
