WCYY-FM in Portland, owned by Fuller-Jeffrey Broadcasting, on July 26 changed its format from adult album alternative to modern rock. The sudden decision to change formats appears puzzling because WCYY was making money. Though it had a meager two percent of the audience, it attracted listeners in the prime 25-54 age bracket. The move appears to have been made for sister-station WBLM, which was concerned about the potential of a new modern-rock station coming along and siphoning off some of the WBLM listeners
